Historic Preservation

On July 16, 2019, City Council adopted Ordinances 01- and 02-19/20 to support the preservation of historic sites and structures in the City of South Portland. These ordinances:

  1. More clearly identify historic resources in community
  2. Create initial incentive to preserve existing resources
  3. Delay demolition and non-historic exterior work to discuss preservation options and/or obtain adequate documentation
