Our aim is to make all buildings in South Portland high performing buildings, focusing on energy efficiency, electrification of heating and cooling, and renewable energy. We will advocate for and develop programs and policies to help make this transition financially feasible for residents and businesses.

Municipal Solar Projects - Get information about the City's municipal solar projects that are helping the South Portland reach its goal of transitioning to 100% clean, renewable energy for municipal operations by 2040.
Save Energy and Save Money - Find out about federal, state, and local electrification incentives available to you.
Energy Stretch Code - The City of South Portland helped the State develop an energy stretch code for new construction that sets a pathway to net-zero energy buildings by 2030. The City adopted the first stretch code, IECC 2021, which went into effect in April 2022.
Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) program – South Portland adopted a local C-PACE program to accelerate the installation of energy efficiency and renewable energy improvements in commercial properties by improving the terms of financing for such improvements.
