Maine is one of eleven Paint Care States. We have belonged to this program since 2015, have over 100 drop off sites, and have recycled over one million gallons of leftover paint.
If you have usable leftover paint, first try to give it away or donate it – try your friends and neighbors, post on social media marketplaces or try contacting community theater groups, school drama clubs, or local housing nonprofit groups.
However, if you still find yourself with paint to be recycled, use our local Paint Care drop off sites. South Portland has drop off locations at:
- Sherwin Williams – 207-799-8147 – 180 Waterman Drive – Millcreek
- Johnson Paint - (formerly Maine Paint Co.) – 207-767-3338 – 153 Ocean St
Please call ahead to confirm availability – they generally accept 5 gallons per trip. There is no charge for dropping off paint at a Paint Care site.
