As you may know, the credit card processor the city uses to process credit card and e-check payments charges fees for these transactions.
As of September 15, 2025, the credit card processor charges a fee of 3.5% on all credit card transactions processed at City Hall, the Library, Public Works and Citizen Self Service, our online platform for looking up and paying tax bills and parking tickets. The processor charges a minimum fee of $2.50 for any transaction.
For example:
- If you are paying a bill for $10, you will be charged $12.50, $10 of which goes to the City and $2.50 of which goes to the processor.
- If you are paying a bill for $100, you will be charged $103.50, $100 of which goes to the City, and $3.50 of which (or 3.5%) goes to the processor.
The processor charges a flat fee of $1.95 for customers paying with an e-check. For those desiring to pay electronically who would like a lower fee, we suggest this option.
