Now Accepting Nominations for the 10th Annual South Portland Business Awards

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine – The City of South Portland Economic Development Committee (EDC) is seeking nominations for its 10th Annual Business Awards. The Awards recognize businesses, entrepreneurs, and difference makers in the community.

WHO:   

South Portland residents, business owners, business staff, and all community members

WHAT:

Submit nominations for the 2024 South Portland Business Awards

WHEN:

The nomination deadline is November 8, 2024. The Awards ceremony will be held on February 26, 2025.

WHERE:

Submit nominations via the online nomination form

WHY:

Help us recognize and celebrate South Portland businesses, organizations and leaders who make South Portland a better place to live, work and play.

 

Submit a nomination by November 8, 2024 to tell the EDC about a business that goes above and beyond, or an individual in the business or nonprofit community who shines. Help us spotlight and show gratitude to the organizations and individuals who contribute to our thriving community. 

The Awards categories are listed below. All are encouraged to make as many nominations as they’d like in any or all of the categories. Businesses are welcome to nominate themselves.

New Business of the Year Award
Nominees for this award represent one of the new great additions to the South Portland Business Community.

Maker Business of the Year Award
Nominees for this recognition include businesses or individual entrepreneurs that produce handmade items, including those that contribute to local artisan markets. 

Business Leader of the Year Award
This award honors an organization that has set a lasting precedent for success and innovation for the South Portland Business Community.

Small Business of the Year Award (25 or fewer employees)
Nominees for this award represent a small organization that has a major impact on the City of South Portland.

Business of the Year Award (Greater than 25 employees)
This award honors a business that has most profoundly improved and strengthened the South Portland business community.

Santo "Sam" DiPietro Community Impact Award
Nominees for this award can be an individual, business, agency, organization, community or nonprofit corporation that has gone above and beyond to make the greater South Portland business community a better place to live, work, and locate a business. Consideration may include expanding and/or diversifying the workforce, improvements to health and environmental sustainability, and/or other contributions.

SoPo Sustainability Award
This award recognizes businesses and individuals who prioritize sustainability practices and are making strides towards impactful change to our environment. Practices may include (but are not limited to) waste reduction, pollution mitigation, clean energy adoption, water conservation, tree planting, sustainable materials utilization, LEED/Well construction, locally sourced food and products, support for employee initiatives, and restoration/net positive activities.

In addition to the award categories above, participants are encouraged to nominate businesses and individuals they feel should be recognized for a unique reason. Please either make a note of this on the nomination form or email the name of the business/organization/individual to bizsupport@southportland.org with a brief description of why you feel they should be honored.
