SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine – On Sunday, April 6, 2025 at approximately 1 AM, South Portland Police conducted a routine traffic stop in the area of Gorham Road and Clarks Pond Parkway. The vehicle was being operated by Michael Myrick, age 47, of South Portland. A roadside investigation led officers to witness a firearm and evidence of drug possession inside the vehicle. Police recovered a handgun and drugs (including 159.2 grams of fentanyl, 7.2 grams of cocaine base, and 12.8 grams of methamphetamine) from the vehicle. Myrick was arrested and transported to Cumberland County Jail. Based on the items found at the traffic stop, a search warrant was obtained for his address at 24 Marcelle Avenue, South Portland. That afternoon, officers searched for and recovered additional suspected drugs and a shotgun. Myrick is being charged with the following:
- Unlawful Possession of Scheduled Drugs (class B felony);
- Aggravated Trafficking in Scheduled Drugs (class A felony);
- Illegal Possession of a Firearm (class C felony);
- Unlawful Furnishing of Scheduled Drugs (class C felony);
- Unlawful Trafficking Scheduled Drugs (class b felony)
Myrick was arraigned on Monday, April 7 and is currently being held at the Cumberland County Jail on $20,000 cash bail. As a result of a routine traffic violation and stop, South Portland Police were able to remove a large amount of drugs and two illegal firearms from the streets.
