June 11, 2024 State Primary Election & School Budget Referendum

Elections Posted on February 23, 2024 | Last Updated on June 24, 2024

Election Information

This page is updated with new information before and following the election. Once available, election results are posted below.

Primary Elections determine each qualified party's nomination of candidates for federal offices and State and County offices. Party candidates who are elected at the Primary qualify to appear on the November General Election ballot.  Effective March 5, 2024, Maine holds semi-open Primaries, which means voters who are unaffiliated with a political party (Unenrolled) may choose which ballot they would like to receive without enrolling in that party.  Voters who are enrolled in a party will receive the ballot of the party (if that party is participating in the Primary election).

Important Deadlines

If you are holding a voter registration drive or mailing in a voter registration application card, we must receive applications 21 days before Election Day.

If you are wanting to change party enrollment or withdraw from a party before a Primary election, you must do so 15 days before Election Day.
The deadline to request an absentee ballot without special circumstances is the Thursday before Election Day.

All absentee ballots must be received by 8:00pm on Election Day.  Absentee ballots must be delivered to the City Clerk's office or dropbox at City Hall.

Unsure if you are registered to vote? Call us at (207) 767-3201 and we can confirm your enrollment!
