4th of July Reminders

Public Notices, Updates & Alerts Posted on July 02, 2024

Happy July 4th week!
• City offices and facilities will be closed on Thursday, July 4 for the holiday, and there is no South Portland Bus Service this day.
• Trash and recycling WILL be collected on Thursday, July 4. There is no impact to the regular collection schedule.
Many offices, including City Hall, are also closed on Friday per the regular schedule, so please plan to do your City business accordingly.
• Wait times at the Treasury office (vehicle registrations, tax payments) may be longer early next week due to the holiday. You can do a lot of City business online 24-7, including registration renewal, at http://www.southportland.gov/onlineservices
• The South Portland Police Department would like to remind you that setting off consumer fireworks is prohibited in the City.
• The South Portland Fire Department would like to remind you that the safest way to enjoy fireworks is at a show put on by professionals where safety measures are in place. Keep your pets safe inside; many are afraid of fireworks and being at home is most comfortable for them.
South Portland Parks, Recreation & Waterfront would like to invite you to join us at Bug Light Park on Thursday, July 4th to enjoy the fireworks show, live music, food trucks, and family games. The festivities begin at 5 PM. Fireworks are expected to begin at approximately 9:15.
