The Cottage Road Project (official title: Pedestrian and Safety Improvements and Mill and Overlay) is located along Cottage Road beginning at the intersection of Highland Avenue and extending east 0.98 miles. The work includes the mill and overlay of Cottage Road, construction of new concrete sidewalk with associated curb, drainage improvements, installation of two rectangular rapid flashing beacons, and other incidental work. Traffic delays can be expected throughout construction. There will be single lane closures during paving, utility work, and occasionally during sidewalk work. Two way traffic will be maintained to the greatest extent practicable. We recommend seeking alternate routes.

Weekly Summary and Lookahead:

3/27/2023 - Shaw Brothers continue sidewalk demolition from Angell Ave towards Pillsbury St. Demolition includes saw cutting and removing curb. They will also begin to install storm drain pipes from Pillsbury St to Sawyer St. Storm drain installation may be disruptive to traffic and will require traffic to be reduced to one-lane where pipe is being installed across the road.

3/20/2023 - Shaw Brothers will start demolition this week. Demolition will start with saw cutting and removing curb. Saw cutting is when asphalt is cut with a saw in order to remove specific portions of asphalt. They intend to install storm drain structures next week.

3/16/2023 - Shaw Brothers started digging test pits. These are small holes to see what’s underground that determine ground conditions.
