Building Energy Grant Program.pngThe South Portland Building Energy Grant Program is designed to support and accelerate the rate of efficiency improvements. Under the grant program, compliant property owners will receive an additional 25% incentive on top of approved Efficiency Maine incentives for qualifying LED lighting and Air Source Heat Pump solutions, while funding lasts. The terms and conditions and step-by-step process for compliant property owners to receive grant funding are outlined below.

LED Lighting Solutions Terms and Conditions: 

South Portland Building Energy Grant Program participants will receive an additional 25% from the City on top of the Efficiency Maine prescriptive incentive for LED lighting solutions. LED lighting funding shall not exceed $2000 per participating property. Only qualifying projects completed after September 1, 2018 will be considered. To receive Building Energy Grant funding, property owners must:

  1. Contact an Efficiency Maine qualified partner to prepare a quote using the Efficiency Maine “Lighting Assessment Tool” measuring facility details, hours of use, cost-effectiveness, and expected Efficiency Maine incentive.
  2. Following completion of the project, provide the Sustainability Office with copy of customer project acceptance form issued by Efficiency Maine.
  3. The City will then provide the property owner with the additional 25% incentive check.

Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) Terms and Conditions:

South Portland Building Energy Grant Program participants will receive an additional 25% incentive from the City on top of the Efficiency Maine prescriptive incentive for ASHP. ASHP funding shall not exceed $1000 per participating property. Only qualifying projects completed after September 1, 2018 will be considered. To receive Building Energy Grant funding, property owners must:

  1. Following completion of project, provide the Sustainability Office with a completed ASHP Project Form, a copy of the invoice and a copy of the rebate check from Efficiency Maine.
  2. The City will then provide the property owner with the additional 25% incentive check.
