Volunteer with the South Portland Parks, Recreation, and Waterfront Department
Volunteers are able to support our department in a number of ways, from coaching, to cleaning trails, special events, and more. We welcome both individual volunteers and groups. If you would like to volunteer with the Parks & Rec Department please see below for current volunteer opportunities.

None currently, please check back soon!
We want you to have a fun and SAFE volunteering experience with our department! Please read this brief safety document before volunteering with us so that you can come prepared to prevent the most common potential hazards you may encounter, particularly when volunteering outdoors.
Our youth sports programs would not exist without the help of our dedicated group of volunteers. If you have an interest in coaching a youth team, we are always looking for volunteers. All levels of experience are welcome. Don't let a lack of coaching knowledge stop you from a very rewarding experience! All coaches are required to complete a volunteer application and are subject to a criminal background check.
For more information about volunteering as a youth coach or to submit an application please contact our Youth Program Coordinator Jenee Nadeau at firstname.lastname@example.org
Court Ordered Community Service:
South Portland Parks, Recreation & Waterfront (PRW) reserves the right to deny ANY individual in need of court ordered community service hours the ability to volunteer with the organization based on the nature, type, and/or specifics of their offense. PRW will not be a party before the specific Court which orders the service, there is no jurisdiction over the organization and the Courts cannot order PRW to allow an individual to volunteer with our organization. Individuals will be judged solely by their offense(s) and not by any other means including, but not limited to: age, race, religion, sexual orientation, or disability.
Court ordered volunteers are NOT allowed to work with children in our programs, drive or have keys to any of our buildings or city vehicles, and cannot operate any machinery.
To apply please fill out the following application and send along with all required documents to Anthony Johnson at email@example.com or mail to 21 Nelson Road, South Portland, ME 04106.
