The City of South Portland in conjunction with the Cumberland County CDBG Office is working with Habitat for humanity to assist County & South Portland residents with Critical Home Repair. Habitat for Humanity provides this service to helps low-income homeowners make needed repairs so they can live in a safe, healthy, and affordable home.
The Critical Home Repair program addresses home repair issues including:
- Roof leaks
- Accessibility issues, ramps, etc.
- Stair repairs, grab bars, railings
- Unsafe heating systems
- Structural work, not to include foundations
- Weatherization
- Installation of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
This program serves homeowners in Cumberland County who have a household income at or below 80% of HUD Area Median Income.
