The auction will initially be held at the Society's museum at Bug Light Park where you can bid in a silent auction format any time through the 4th of July. Bidding will end at the Society's 4th of July event, after “Benjamin Franklin” reads the Declaration of Independence at noon.

Auction items featured will showcase the incredible variety of places to go and things to do during our wonderful Maine summers – items like cruises, tours, golf, theater, museums, restaurants, and other summertime activities.  You can bid on items like a Sea Dogs skybox, a ride for four on the Portland Pilot boat, a family membership at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, a sail for two on a Maine schooner, an overnight stay at one of a selection of fine Maine hotels, tickets to a show at a live theater or gift certificates to a local restaurant.

In addition to bidding at the Society’s Cushing’s Point Museum at 55 Bug Light Park, South Portland, the Summer in Maine Auction will also be available on the South Portland Historical Society Facebook page. HEALTH AND WELLNESS IN THE SEA WITH MR. AND MRS. FISH

The South Portland Public Library welcomes local marine educators, Mr. and Mrs. Fish, to kick off this year’s summer reading program on Thursday, June 23 at 6:00 p.m. at the Main Library! This dynamic duo, Jeff Sandler (Mr. Fish) and Deb Sandler (Mrs. Fish), are legendary pioneers in elementary marine education. They have it all: Costumes, sea creatures, and fun ocean facts, all combined with enough humor to keep audiences engaged, laughing, and learning!

This summer, Mr. and Mrs. Fish will present “Health and Wellness in the Sea.” Learn about how sea creatures stay healthy, and how they help keep the ocean healthy! This program is for all ages. For more information about the library’s ongoing programs and special events this summer, visit www.southportlandlibrary.com or call Youth Services at 767-7660 x 3. This program is made possible through the support of the Friends of the South Portland Public Library.

Thank you, Adrian Dowling, for the photos!
