The South Portland Fire Department strives to ensure that the Public is well informed of both emergency and nonemergency events.  We take a proactive approach with local media, as well as the general public, through social media and other outlets.

Lieutenant Robb Couture serves as the Public Information Officer for the department.  He has over 20 years of experience in the fire service, and has served as the PIO since 2005.  He received training through the Maine Emergency Management Agency, The National Fire Academy, National Incident Management System and the National Transportation Safety Board.  Lieutenant Couture is responsible for on scene emergency information as part of the Incident Command System, as well as nonemergency communications with the public.
